The top part of the Island is farm land. It is mostly overgrown with prickly bushes but you can still see some evidence of the farmers live. It must have been a tuff live up there.
Kastellorizo has a proper petrol station for cars and boats. The owner build a peer for fishing and sailing boats. The station is in mandraki right behind the cemetery.
Coming back from a trip to Turkey. From far we could see Kastellorizo Island in bad weather. The trip takes 30 minutes by boat. The town on the turkish side has the name Kas, a nice place.
The last winter was very dry, it is good that we have a lot of rain this winter. Let’s wish, that it continues.
The road up to the airport is 4,5 km long. Very little traffic. You meet sometimes a goat or a cheap. Kastellorizo has only one taxi that takes all the people up to the airport and down to the village.
A walk up to Avlonia is an experience. You find an ancient double grave and when you continue to walk to the monastery of St. George you come pas some Patatirios where they made vine in the ancient time. Every centimeter on Kastellorizo is history.
